It’s back and it looks pretty much alive after their bankruptcy in November 2013. But what went wrong with this luxury sports sedan? Since the production launched in 2011 former Fisker Karma built 2450 hybrid vehicles, which could drive only 30 miles by using electricity. Then it switched to combustion engine to charge the batteries. But electricity mileage wasn’t the only problem. The company struggled with some other technical issues and money problems, which reflected in their reviews. According to car reviewers Karma wasn’t reliable and didn’t deliver required quality. After some missed production deadlines the company filed for bankruptcy.
The Fisker Karma’s assets had been sold to the Chinese company Wanxiang, which created Karma Automotive. In 2015 they announced that a new rebuilt version will be re-introduced. And here we go, after a year of improving all the components and technologies, a new upgraded prototype called Revero has been revealed on 11 August 2016.
Original design made by Henrik Fisker, the designer of BMW Z8 and Aston Martin DB9, has been re-used in this new plug-in hybrid, and that’s a good thing. Additionally Revero has been equipped with solar panel roof to charge the batteries and completely new infotainment system, which should be simple and intuitive.
Tesla is going to have a solid rival that’s for sure. But we have to wait till all the work is done to see technical specifications. So far we know the price which starts at $100,000 and it is planned to be released later this year.
